More Information
The HS960
allows full customisation of the client login/logout page, with the
ability to add logos, text or even a redirection to another webpage.
Customisation is also available on the content that prints on the
print-out ticket. The walled garden feature offers up to 10 web
sites that can be viewed without the requirement to pay.
The HS960
Wireless Hotspot enables any business (café, restaurant, hotel,
airport etc) to set up a hotspot location anywhere and provide a
Internet connection for up to100 users at a time.
The one-box
solution is easy to set up and manage. It includes an 802.11g+
(54Mbps)
wireless
router, 4 port 10/100 switch, three button printer and a service
gateway.
You can provide
internet access by time, offering a zero configuration experience
for the end customer. By simply pressing one button on the printer
for the required amount of
access time, a
receipt is generated which provides a unique username and password
for the amount of time purchased. Several network security protocols
are provided in the NetComm HS960 to fully secure your wireless
communications, WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access), WEP, SSL configuration
page, SSL client login page, VLAN security on LAN ports and Layer 2
Isolation security. Without a username and password customers can
not
access
broadband, and with layer 2 security your users will not be able to
see each other.
The HS960
allows full customisation of the client login/logout page, with the
ability to add logos, text or even a redirection to another webpage.
Customisation is also available on the content that prints on the
print-out ticket. The walled garden feature offers up to 10 web
sites that can be viewed without the requirement to pay. Management
tools can be accessed remotely and include web configurator, TFTP/HTTP
firmware upgrade, LAN Device Management and SNMP. The HS960 also
offers a Syslog function which displays the device history and
billing as well as usage and access logs. The HS960 can operate in
standalone mode or can use the in-built client to communicate with
any standards based
Radius server,
in order to support AAA (Authentication , Authorization and
Accounting).

Frequently Ask
Questions
1. Do I need to be aligned with a particular ISP to use the this
Wireless Gateway?
No. The settings allow you to choose any ISP and to update the
settings as necessary.
2. Can I measure and bill by bandwidth usage?
This Gateway bills by time usage. However, you can control bandwidth
for users logged on via the advance setup menu.
3. Can I use another printer instead of the thermal printer
supplied?
Yes it can be connected to another network printer, either
wirelessly or via the LAN port at the back of the unit.
4. Can my logo be printed on the receipt produced by the thermal
printer?
The thermal printer is designed to print text only. If you wish to
have your logo on the receipt, we recommend that you use your own
network printer.
5. Can users still use the internet if the thermal printer runs out
of paper?
Yes. Accounts can be generated using a web browser.
6. What do I do if I am in the middle of printing a receipt when the
paper runs out?
If you are in the middle of printing a receipt when the paper runs
out, simply switch to generating accounts via your web browser.
7. Can I use the gateway with a dial-up connection?
The gateway can be used with a dial-up connection, however, for
performance reasons, we recommend using it with a broadband account.
8. Can I issue a user name and password that can be used for more
than one Gateway E.G. Hotspot café A and Café B?
All user names and passwords are location specific and are not
transferable.
9. Can users VPN into their office network ?
You can VPN into your office network provided you already have a VPN
client (software/hardware) installed on your computer and your
office network has a VPN server configured to allow remote users to
access the network.
10. Can I schedule free time for my customers with the device, E.G.
5 minutes free on Monday morning at 9 am?
YES. The best way to achieve this is to set the pricing value for
one button at X min/hours for zero dollars (where X is the number of
minutes you wish to supply as free-time).
11. Can my users complete their download if their time runs out mid
session?
Once the session has ended, the downloading session is
disconnected. However, the user can replenish their session time
using the replenish button in the information window
(http://1.1.1.1/info.html). The Gateway will warn the user before
their time runs out and notify them when their time has expired.
12. Can I restrict bandwidth to users logged on to the my gateway ?
You can restrict bandwidth to users logged on to the device via the
advance setup menu.
13. Can Gateway usage information (i.e. account generation, system
reboot, billing, accounting, etc) be sent directly to an email
address?
The Gateway usage information can be sent directly to a specified
email address, provided your network either has an SMTP server (mail
server) or ISP has an SMTP server to process the email sent to you.
14. Can BlueWolf remotely log in and administer the Gateway, E.G.
via the Internet from their office?
Yes we can remotely log in and administer the gateway, as long as
your ADSL modem has been
set up to allow pass through to the Gateway (port forwarding) or you
have registered a unique URL with a DNS service .
17. How far can the Gateway be from the thermal printer?
The Gateway can be up to 100 metres away from the thermal printer
when using a serial cable (a RJ11 to DB25). A five metre serial
cable is supplied.
18. How do I administer the gateway from my office LAN via the WAN
port?
A) Identify the WAN IP address of the Gateway (via Gateway System
Quick View).
B) Use your web browser to connect to this address.
C) Log in to the administrator’s page with your username and
password when the dialogue box pops up.
